Jo: Hello, beautiful soul. Welcome back to the podcast. Before we dive into this week's episode, I wanted to just give you a little life update. So this weekend, or actually by the time you are listening to [00:01:00] this episode, if you listen to it, when it drops on Monday, I will be flying to Vegas after my sister's joint bachelor, bachelorette party. So that's going down this weekend, and then I'll be flying to Las Vegas for a convention I'm super excited about. So I'll be going up from Austin to Vegas. I'm super pumped, but it's going to be a very, very busy week essentially because we're leaving tomorrow, which is Thursday. I'm recording this on Wednesday. So we're leaving tomorrow for Austin and then I'm leaving Monday for Vegas, and I won't be coming back until Thursday morning, so I will be gone from my house. For an entire week, and the reality of that is just now hitting me. Oh, my gosh. So here we are. I am doing my absolute best to make sure that I have everything done and squared away so that everything runs smoothly and everything gets posted for you on time. [00:02:00] Just as you expect it. So that's, what's going on in my life right now. And I'm really, really excited about everything that is coming up. In this episode I want to share with you a story that I've told several times, but I guess not enough. Everybody needs to know this story because it shows the power and the simplicity behind subconscious change. When I was pregnant with my daughter, she is now three years old. So this was about four ish years ago. 2019 when I was pregnant. I craved Coca-Cola and Doritos. So. Badly. It was a problem. Right because when you're pregnant, you're not supposed to increase your caffeine consumption and Coca-Cola has caffeine in it. I was just craving it. I wanted to drink it all the frigging time. Not to mention I craved bloody Mary's, but virgin bloody Mary's. I did not want the vodka at all[00:03:00] like I wasn't craving a bloody Mary with vodka in it. I was craving a really fancy tomato juice. If I'm being completely honest. That was. Uh, that it hit the spot. It was great. But when it comes to cravings like Coca-Cola and Doritos, because I had already gained more weight than I ever have in my entire life. I knew that this was something that it's completely an unhealthy addiction. And it had gotten to that point of addiction where I just had to have it. I knew that something had changed. While I was pregnant with my daughter, I was going through my NLP certification, and one of the techniques is a like to dislike technique where you take something that you really like, that you don't want to like anymore and map it across to something that you don't like that's similar. So I did this technique for myself with the Coca-Cola and Doritos. In less than 10 minutes my cravings [00:04:00] for Coca-Cola and Doritos were completely gone. It was insane. It really proved to me the power of the subconscious mind and the power that simply where you store information in your mind has on how you feel about it. What we essentially did was figure out. Where I stored these pieces of information, where I stored Coca-Cola and where I stored Doritos. And then I took two items. So in the case of Coca-Cola, I took Pepsi. Because when I was in middle school, Pepsi used to give me migraines. So I associate Pepsi with migraines. And every time I think about Pepsi, my stomach kind of turns a little bit. Then for Doritos I chose a similar chip called Julio. It's a tortilla chip with a ton of seasoning on it. And. Unlike the Pepsi that I have this aversion to the Julio is I just don't really care for I'll eat them if they're the only thing there. I [00:05:00] just. I don't go out of my way to eat them. I feel like they're over seasoned. So, what you do is essentially move these pieces of information where you store these pieces of information to where you store the pieces of information that you don't like. You do that by changing the attributes of the picture that you have in your mind of it. And once you do that and you lock it in place. It's just so weird. Because the thing that you'd been craving. Five seconds prior. Is now something that you associate with a migraine headache. Coca-Cola now every time I think of Coca-Cola I'm like, Ooh. It makes me feel the way that Pepsi makes me feel. I don't like the way it tastes anymore. I don't like to think about it anymore. I don't like to look at it. Then with Doritos, I'll eat them if they're the only thing there, but I don't seek them out. And I'm telling you this. So that you can maybe really grasp the fact that we have the super powerful thing at our [00:06:00] fingertips. And the way that we're taught to use it, I don't think we're even actually taught to use it. We're taught things like the Pythagorean theorem and newton's laws of whatever. And really. Like when do we use that stuff? Why aren't we taught about our own minds? Why are we not taught emotional regulation? Why are we not taught all of these things that could make our lives exponentially better as children. I feel like that should be a crime. Why are we not taught how to use our minds? Just food for thought. I'm telling you this story because it's a very simple yet profoundly powerful technique. It seems almost trivial, like, oh, I just don't want to like oranges anymore. Okay, it can go both ways too. Right? You can take something that you don't like and map it across to something that you do like so that you'll like it. If there's something that you know, you should be eating because it's good for you. You [00:07:00] just don't like it. You can map it across to something that you do like, and then boom, all of a sudden you've changed that thing for yourself. Now, of course, we want to do all of these things within ecology. So making sure that it's good for you. Good for the people around you. Good for the world at large. And make sure that it's not going to harm you or anybody around you. But how much would your life change if you knew how to do this for yourself? That's my question for you. So. I know this was a very short episode today for this week. But I just want to get you thinking a little bit about your mind and how powerful it is. Truly. How powerful it is. It's like the world's best, most sophisticated supercomputer. Unfortunately, we aren't taught how to use it properly. It's like having the supercomputer and all, you know, how to run on it is Microsoft word. That's such a limited use of your [00:08:00] supercomputer. So, if you are interested, In learning more about the subconscious mind hop into the rise empire Facebook group. I fully plan on being much more active over in the Facebook group. Hosting pop-up trainings. And the like, While also offering pop-up. Hot seat coaching for anybody who wants to join us. So. That is it for today. I will see you next week.
